My email back to Target

If Target truly supported breastfeeding in it's stores, then your official statement would have indicated such instead of blaming the victim. By falsely claiming that the Mary Martinez "situation escalated to a point where [you] were concerned for the safety of our guests" you are implying that a young mother and her police officer husband got belligerent and violent in your store. There was no escalation, that is a flat out lie.Target has verbally admitted to being wrong, but publicly continues to accuse Mrs. Martinez of "escalation. Your corporation has chosen to back an ignorant employee over someone who likely represents a large portion of your clientele, myself, and most of my friends included. The security guard identified himself as a police officer, even going as far as to give a precinct number. Impersonating a police officer is a CRIME. Your employee committed a crime for the sole purpose of harassing and discriminating against a nursing mother.

I have 3 children who attend a school that requires uniforms. This year, the vast majority of their uniforms were purchased at Target. It looks like next year I will get them elsewhere. Until Target issues an official retraction and amendment of their false statement, and reprimands the security and management involved I will continue to boycott your stores. I am encouraging others to do the same by spreading the word to , not only, my friends and family, but also to the other parents at my children's school, my local La Leche League chapter, my local MOMS Club chapter, and anyone I speak to who has young children.
